Chinese Auction

We are having a Chinese Auction on Sunday August 1st from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm.

Open House

We are having an open house on July 18th from 1 to 4 pm.  The public is invited to drop by and see our equipment on display and meet our members.  Join us to find out more about the work we do, and to enjoy a hotdog, some cake or a beverage.

We are pleased to announce that Project Lifesaver Nova Scotia is also going to have it’s official launch at this event.

Project Lifesaver Training

Over the (wet) weekend of June 5th and 6th, eleven Valley SAR members successfully completed training in Project Lifesaver technology and search techniques.  This was facilitated by officers in the Ontario Provincial Police who are also members of the OPP Emergency Response Team.  Seven VSAR members were further certified as Trainers for Project Lifesaver.

Good finish for VSAR Team

The Valley Search and Rescue team finished the Search and Rescue Competitive category of the EcoEndurance Challenge in 6th place with 700 points, very good for a first effort.  The team covered 24.9 km in the eight hour event, finishing with a scant nine minutes left before the race clock ran out.

A VSAR team is being formed for the E2C (wilderness orienteering challenge), which is slated for the first weekend in May.  We will be doing the 8 hour SAR challenge on Saturday.  If you are interested in participating, there is still room on the team.
