Valley Search and Rescue (VSAR) is a highly trained voluntary organization that provides a unique and essential service for the citizens of Kings County. It is the only organization equipped to carry out searches for lost and missing persons in remote, rugged, and inhospitable back-country, and is the only organization authorized and trained to assist the RCMP in evidence searches in Kings County.
Our members are active in one capacity or another to meet our needs. We have members trained in Search Management, Wilderness Survival, Map and Compass, First Aid, Wilderness and Remote First Responder, Amateur Radio, K-9 Search, and numerous other areas needed to perform rescues in Kings County and beyond.
We provide our Search and Rescue services free to the citizens of Kings County and to the surrounding Counties when they require our assistance.
Valley Search and Rescue was instrumental in bringing Project Lifesaver to Nova Scotia, and is the Provincial Coordinator for Project Lifesaver Nova Scotia, thus having primary responsibility for training needs within the province.
